What it is: The primary U.S. federal law governing chemical substances in commerce, administered by the EPA. It applies to chemicals as standalone substances, in mixtures and as components within finished products.

Why you're receiving this request: If you supply parts, components or materials to a U.S. manufacturer or importer, they may be asking you to confirm whether your products contain any substances restricted under TSCA, particularly sections which cover specific persistent bioaccumulative toxins (PBTs), or PFAS reporting requirements. Your customer needs supplier declarations to build their own documentation trail, and may require chemical data submissions, exposure information, or business records demonstrating compliance. Common items to pull together include: Safety Data Sheets, materials listings, written declarations on company letterhead referencing the applicable TSCA section, and confirmation of whether any restricted substances are present (including consumables used in-house, not only end products).
