Result: Manufacturer avoided fines and penalties by submitting Self-Disclosure Audit to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).


  • Discussion of client’s history of environmental compliance to assess primary environmental regulations that apply to facility

  • Review of company’s pertinent environmental documents including permits, plans, training programs, and reporting requirements; assessment of documents to identify environmental issues at site and help narrow focus of audit

  • Inspection of facility accompanied by company representatives to gain thorough understanding of process operations and environmental issues

  • Interview with key employees regarding compliance with and knowledge of environmental regulations and company policies and procedures

  • Preparation of environmental audit report including background information, description of records review and facility walk-through, and summary of results of audit with applicable regulatory citations; prioritization of list of recommendations for corrective actions, modifications, or improvements to environmental programs at facility
