Philadelphia Buildings over 200,000 SF facing fines if their Building Energy Performance Program (BEPP) is not addressed by September 30th.

Philadelphia's Building Energy Performance Program (BEPP) requires non-residential buildings 50,000 square feet and larger to complete an energy tune-up, certify as high-performing, or file for an exemption every five years. This year, however, the City of Philadelphia has dramatically stepped up its enforcement and fines for non-compliance.

This cycle, the City has said it plans to enforce the program with an initial $2,000 fine, plus $500 a day — that's roughly $15,000 a month, or over $180,000 a year, in continued non-compliance.
