What it is: The EU's comprehensive chemicals regulation, in force since 2007. It requires registration of chemical substances manufactured or imported into the EU above 1 metric ton per year, and places obligations on the entire supply chain to communicate hazard and safety information.
Why you're receiving this request: If your products are sold into Europe, or sold to a customer who sells into Europe, REACH compliance requests are routine. The most common ask is confirmation of whether your products contain any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) above the 0.1% threshold by weight, along with current Safety Data Sheets or materials listings. The SVHC Candidate List is updated biannually by ECHA and now includes over 250 substances so a substance that wasn't in scope last year may be now. EU customers have a legal obligation to communicate SVHC information to their own customers, and they need supplier declarations to fulfill it.
