Project Experience

Bulk Hydrogen Chloride System for Semiconductor Manufacturer
EES provided on-site project management and engineering for the design, installation, start-up, and operation of a bulk hydrogen chloride system at this semiconductor manufacturing facility. The work included the development of programs for OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP).

The bulk HCl installation includes the following systems:

Dual, 21,000-pound mobile HCl tube trailers and high-pressure control manifolds.

Emergency release and process scrubbers, and associated fiberglass ventilation systems, for controlling HCl air emissions.

HCl leak detection and automatic emergency shutdown systems, which are tied to the facility’s life safety communication systems.

Design-build masonry building to house the bulk HCl systems.

Coaxial, vacuum jacketed, Hasteloy and stainless steel piping system for conveying the HCl into the fabrication facility and to the process tools via valve manifold boxes.

EES managed this $2 million project to successful completion.

IAQ Assessment and Ventilation Upgrades for Emergency Medical Services Facility
EES conducted an indoor air quality (IAQ) assessment for a newly renovated emergency medical services facility. The assessment included the following tasks:

Reviewed the design and installation of the ambulance exhaust fume ventilation system.

Measured exhaust flow rates in the ventilation system and concentrations of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and combustibles during several operating scenarios.

Prepared a detailed report of the results of the investigation, including recommendations for system improvements.

In Phase II of the work, we . . .

Prepared plans and specifications for ventilation upgrades.

Selected the contractor and managed the construction.

Tested, adjusted and balanced the exhaust ventilation systems.

Phase III includes a follow-up IAQ assessment to ensure that the ventilation upgrades were fully effective.
