Sr. Env. Engineer, April 1999 – January 2003
- Team leader Experience: Team leader for implementation of Pharmaceutical MACT Compliance Systems. Implementation consisted of modifying day to day operations in manufacturing, utilities and maintenance areas via batch sheet/procedure modifications, upgrading site incident response systems, upgrading the site’s waste stream tracking system, providing extensive training, and developing significant compliance documentation.
- Regulatory Experience: Experience in reading, interpreting, and applying environmental regulatory requirements to site operations. Primary experience in the use and application of air and water regulations.
- Knowledge of Management Systems: Significantly improved the system for creating, approving and implementing site Environmental Procedures, conducted internal audits of the plant, and provided input to numerous other Environmental systems implemented at Danville.
- Capital Project Experience: Team member on numerous capital projects. Contributions include providing justification for Environmental projects, defining scope required for compliance with various Environmental regulations, review of design to ensure Environmental compliance, etc.
- Chemical Process Knowledge: Generated emission models and detailed characterization of waste streams from chemical processes through review of batch sheets, process descriptions and models.
- Environmental Testing and Modeling: Coordinated emissions test of operating wastewater tanks and co-developed an emissions model for the tanks. Resulted in a capital project that significantly reduced emissions for the site. Developed wastewater sampling plan for process streams and conducted a quality control review of the results.
- Miscellaneous: Acted as back-up Environmental key contact for operating areas, environmental audit coordinator, and department training coordinator. Responded to environmental incidents. Prepared and submitted permit applications to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Developed/improved databases and created communication tools (flow charts ,etc.).

Environmental Engineer, June 1997 – April 1999
- Responsibilities included working with EPA to develop feasible and scientifically sound environmental regulations, developing environmental project scopes, and assisting with compliance at Merck sites. Acquired expertise in the development and implementation of Pharmaceutical MACT and Effluent Guidelines including negotiations with EPA, process characterization, database development, and compliance strategies.
